Deepening our practices

The practice of spiritual direction made space for some of the richest, most rewarding, and deeply resourceful moments of my life.

In honing resolution for the year to come, I am inviting 13 new people into my practice. Perhaps you?

What is Spiritual Direction? ☎️

“I don’t get it. What happens on those calls..?”

Firstly, I work by phone.

We work by phone to free your body to move, to lie down, to stretch, to sink in.

We work voice-to-voice because — enough screens already.

We work breath-to-breath because listening and hearing are two of my superpowers. So much passes in between the words, beneath spoken language. Let’s listen. Is your soul whispering?

Secondly, I work idiosyncratically.

👨🏼‍🍳 If my prior work in spiritual communities was akin to working in the kitchen of a bustling restaurant, this work is more like being a personal chef. We track, amongst other things, what is nourishing for your neshama.

🍽️ Drawing upon those decades of plating soul food, our calls traverse domains of silence, song, story-telling, psycho-education, insight, and more.

🚪 Non-metaphorically speaking, I used to deliver food by bicycle on NYC’s Lower East Side. Every delivery was a glimpse into a universe. What amazing world would peer through as each door opened? (Remind me to tell you about the time I handed Joey Ramone his lunch.) Like those deliveries, each spiritual direction call is an adventure… As Leonard Cohen sang, “Who shall we say is calling?” I arrive to each call fully available to meet you as you are — that day, at that time — emergent in presence, with loving awareness.

Our intimate conversations might include…

  • Prayer, practice, meditation, and meaning-making

  • Non-ordinary states of consciousness — bidden and unbidden

  • Gender, sexuality, embodiment, pleasure, yearning, desire

  • Neurodivergence and Interpersonal Neurobiology

  • Creativity, intuition, and guidance

  • Spiritual emergency/emergence

  • God(dess)? g-d. G§D. $#&!

Offering spiritual direction immeasurably enriches my life. I would love to weave the nourishing space of it with you. The details are below.
